Singapore to use death penalty for drugs once again...
I don't know if you've been following this case, but a 25-year-old Australian is going to be executed for carrying 396g of heroin.
Mr Howard was embarrassed in South Korea when it was disclosed the Singaporean Government had notified Van's family in writing of the date of the execution while he was still appealing personally to the Prime Minister of Singapore for clemency.I am firmly against the death penalty; clearly anybody who travels to Singapore with drugs is stupid...but they shouldn't have to be killed.
Mr Rudd predicted that Van's hanging could have an adverse impact on Australia's bilateral relationship with Singapore.
"The Singaporean processes don't even allow his mum to give him a farewell cuddle ... I mean, what sort of Government are we dealing with here?"
